Gallant Knights conducts fundraising on behalf of our Veteran Community.  Our mission is to enable the purchase of adaptive sports equipment for the injured or ill veteran athletes.

With our huge thanks to the Peterborough Naval Association's generous donation of $10,064.00, our next deserving Veteran, Lisa Nilsson will be receiving a new recumbent bike.  The order has been placed with Tara Llanes Industries and it will be assembled by Fairfield Bicycle Shop.   This bike will be custom fitted to Lisa's requirements to ensure many years of safe and secure biking.  We will be updating our post when she receives it.

On September 24, 2020 a donation of $2,800 was made to Sgt. (Retired) Amy Taylor to complete the full purchase of a Catrike 5.5.9 Recumbent Bike.  A Soldier On donation of $2K was a good start, so the Gallant Knights picked up where they left off and helped Amy get her bike without having to use her own funds to fully purchase the bike.  This purchase is already making a difference - from Amy "Thanks to the support I received from this organization, I was able to use my recumbent bike, do the 26.1km race and come 17 th in 766 for the 1 st Virtual Canadian Army
with the Soldier On Team.
".  Read more of Amy's story and how this bike will benefit her and her family - click here.

On July 28, 2020 the Gallant Knights Charity Sports Association presented two air rifles to deserving veterans (watch a video of the presentation here.):

  • Capt (Ret'd) Kristina Moreau CD2 - a Feinwerkbau Model 800, targets, jacket, pellets, glove and cases.    Capt. Moreau won the gold medal in shooting at the Warrior Games in 2019.  This in spite of having to use borrowed equipment for practice ahead of the games and for the competition.   Capt Moreau plans to continue participating in competitive shooting in the future.  She now has the equipment to continue practicing and competing.

The donation of the two air rifles is a family affair as Capt Moreau's two children, who are also WO Moreau's grandchildren, are also following in their footsteps.  Also of note, Capt Moreau's air rifle was donated in the memory of Maj (Ret'd) Wayne Boone CD, PhD who served as a Military Police officer and died on June 20, 2015.  It made the donation all the more special when it was determined Maj Boone and Capt Moreau  served together in Trenton.

GKCSA still has 2020 goals to fulfill with your help.  We continue to raise additional funds for the purchase of a specialized, adaptive sports wheelchair for a veteran in British Columbia who wants to join a local wheelchair basketball league in Victoria; also for a handbike for a veteran in Pembroke so they may join the family on bike rides.

With your help, we will make a difference in these veterans' lives!
